There are many events planned for cruisers in the next few months some of which need you to action now.
You need to:
- Book with Mandy for the Cruising Dinner on this Friday 15th Feb by this Wednesday.
- Progressive Dinner – Friday March 15th – Register your interest and volunteer your boat if possible to the coordinators, Jenny Collins or Pam Merritt, ASAP so planning can get underway.
- Juniors Big Boat Day to Williamstown – Sunday April 7th – Contact coordinator Paul Jenkins (Kathleen B) to volunteer to take your boat and junior crew to Williamstown.
- Land-cruising weekend 30/31st March – Register your interest with Jenny Collins.
We wish our Bass Strait Cruisers fair winds as they prepare their boats and head out into Bass Strait. Also we extend our good wishes to the two boats, Reliance and Y Knot, and their skippers Terry Frankham and Craig Walton as they join the VDL-C 2019 to circumnavigate Tasmania. We hope they all have a wonderful cruise and come back with great stories to tell.

Guest Speakers Karen and Peter Johns – ‘Let’s build a boat and save money on hotels’
The story of how a RBYC yachtsman of 60 years with two yachts thought it might be a good idea to build a 30 ton barge to cruise the inland and coastal waters of Europe for six months each year. Or how to avoid the Melbourne winter and save a fortune on hotel bills!
As usual gather at the club about 6.30pm, members draw at 7pm followed by the meal and the presentation.

Saturday 23rd February to Monday 11th March Annual Bass Strait Cruise in Company
Boats will gather at QCYC on Saturday 23rd February and finalise plans as to their destination according to the latest weather forecasts. Contact Peter Strain It’s a Privilege email@example.com for any last minute information or bookings.
Friday 15th March – Annual Boat Progressive Dinner
Gather at the Members Bar for pre-dinner drinks followed by main course on first allocated boat, dessert and coffee on second allocated boat then gather back for port and chocolates on It’s a Privilege.Cost probably $20/person.
This evening is only possible because of the generosity of boat owners who provide main course or dessert on their boats for 6-8 people with costs reimbursed up to $10/person for main course and $6/person for dessert.
Non-boat owners or currently boatless are always warmly welcomed and need to book a place through our coordinators above. Numbers are limited to what can be accommodated on volunteered boats.
This is an excellent evening to get to know other members of cruising. We encourage any new members to attend.
30th/31st March – End of Month Activity on Land!
As many of our cruisers are also campers our March end of month activity will be Land-Cruising. Jenny Collins firstname.lastname@example.org will be coordinating. Register your interest with her and you will be kept informed of details as they are decided upon.
Sunday 7th April – Juniors Big Boat Day
Cruising/Junior sailors and their parents combined Cruise to Williamstown.
This is an opportunity to take our young sailors for a big boat sail. We will leave the marina at approx. 10am with assigned junior crew and parents and sail over to Williamstown for a bring your own everything BBQ lunch. Bar meals are also available. Drinks to be purchased at the bar. The juniors and their parents will bring their own food and lifejackets for the children.
